Have watched Night of the Living Dead, Freddy versus Jason, Scream, Planet Terror, The Thing, When a Stranger Calls, Saw, Going to Pieces, and The Irrefutable Truth about Demons since I last updated.

My thoughts: Rose McGowan is really hot and awesome, I am a Jason fan while my horror movie buddy is a Freddy fan, I definitely don't think horror movies are sexist, Katie Cassidy was the best five seconds of When a Stranger Calls, and The Irrefutable Truth about Demons was... probably not worth it (except that Karl Urban actually had normal hair).

Saw Amityville Horror (2005). For a movie that is based on a "true" story, which, I assume, requires slightly more adherence to the same basic plot than, say, a remake of a general horror movie, I was definitely kept on my toes. The original did a better job building up the psychological suspense more, but some of the spooks genuinely scared the crap out of me. Although Ryan Reynolds is ripped.

Watched Bowling for Columbine. Michael Moore tends to be pretty... aggressive with his documentaries, but I thought it was cool that he made a documentary about guns and gun violence given that he's an NRA member and from a gun-happy town himself. It felt more real. The documentary definitely upped my respect for both Matt Stone and Marilyn Manson and obliterated any desire I ever had (which was already pretty low) to see a Charlton Heston movie, because he's a giant dick.

Saw Halloween (2007). The beginning was intense. The problem with making a remake and remaining fairly faithful to some specific death scenes it that the original punch is gone. Other than that, I liked it. The motivation for Michael's behavior was cool.

Watched the 2009 remake of Friday the 13th. It was... pretty intense. Sort of regretted eating right before watching it. Jared was awesome, though. And he had a bike!

Saw Just My Luck. Definitely not advisable for people with extreme embarrassment squick. It was cute, though. Plus, Lindsay Lohan is always hot.

Watched Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. It was... pretty much in line with the other Harry Potter movies. Some parts were good, some parts weren't, etc. Don't really feel like hashing it out again.

Rewatched Ghostbusters, the movie that gave me nightmares several times when I was younger. A friend of mine loves to bring this up to demonstrate how ridiculously low my terror threshold is and/or what a freak I am. I think they need to rewatch that movie. It has plenty of nightmare fuel, especially for someone in single digits.

Since my horror movie buddy refused to watch House of Wax (2005) with me, I stayed up to two in the morning last night to watch it by myself. And can I get a huge round of "ew"? The twists weren't particularly inspired, but they actually went for more gruesome moments than I would have thought. The cover lies, though. It is definitely not "sexy" even with Paris' strip-tease. There were two particularly awesome kick-ass chick moments, though!

Watched the remake of My Bloody Valentine. It was simultaneously wonderful and ridiculous and nasty and awesome. Definitely some scenes that I couldn't stand to watch, especially with the 3-D effect. Had an argument with a friend about whether or not the Sheriff was supposed to be sympathetic by the end, loved Jensen, and the woman who played Sarah was hot. Totally worth watching.

Watched Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978). Felt like it dragged in some places, then ended very abruptly. Fairly disturbing, especially a certain scene.

Watched Doom today. Pretty ridiculous movie. Wanted to punch Sarge in the face. But the end scene was pretty awesome. I want stories of cute little Sam and John, or possibly Sam and John coping after the movie.

Just finished The Dead Zone. Was not expecting that ending, but I think I'm okay with it. King got kind of meta-y toward the end, which was lulzy. Some neat narration techniques, especially towards the end (store clerk narrators, letters, transcriptions).
